The tourism sector has an important role in national development. This sector is able to absorb labor and encourage other economic activities. One of the fast growing industries today is hotel accommodation. The more widespread activities of seminars, meetings and training held in hotels, it is necessary to collect data / information about hotel characteristics.
Therefore, the task of BPS is to conduct a Monthly Accommodation Services Statistics Survey (VHTS). This survey aims to collect data on hotel occupancy rates, average length of stay, and number of guests staying at the hotel. Data collection is conducted every month throughout Indonesia with respondents in all star hotels and for non-star hotels in the sample.
To break the chain of the spread of the corona virus, the government calls on all ministries / institutions / agencies and local governments to work from home or work form home (WFH). However, WFH did not prevent officers from conducting the survey. During WFH, data collection can be done without face-to-face, namely via wa, telephone, or email.
For information, in March 2020, from 27 samples of accommodation business in Kab. Magelang, 70 percent of data collection online while the rest are temporarily closed businesses due to the corona pandemic. Of course, technological advances make users easier and faster in obtaining and disseminating information.
