Magelang Regency Children's School Participation 2025: Ages 7-17 Hits 96.16%

Statistics Indonesia (BPS) of Magelang Regency released comprehensive data regarding the portrait of children's school participation in Magelang Regency through the 2025 Magelang Regency Child Profile publication. Based on this data, the majority of school-age children in the 7 to 17 years age range are recorded as actively receiving education with a very high participation rate reaching 96.16%. In addition, there is also a positive trend where parents begin sending their children to school at an early age in the 5 to 6 years age group with an early participation rate of 8.9%, even though they have not yet reached the compulsory school age. This school participation rate then recorded its highest figure at the basic education level for the 7 to 12 years age group or SD/MI level at 99.31%, indicating that almost all children at this level have optimally obtained their right to learn.

Entering the secondary education level, the school participation rate shows varying dynamics in each age group in Magelang Regency. At the junior high school level for the 13 to 15 years age group or SMP/MTs level, the majority of children are actively receiving education with a participation rate reaching 98.19%, where only a small fraction of around 1.81% are recorded as no longer attending school. Meanwhile, at the senior high school level for the 16 to 17 years age group or SMA level, the participation rate of children actively attending school is recorded at 82.17%, with the percentage of children no longer attending school or dropping out being the highest, reaching 17.23%. Through the presentation of this statistical data, BPS Magelang Regency hopes that this information can serve as an important foundation and reference for the regional government in formulating strategic policies to improve the equity and quality of educational access for children in Magelang Regency.
