Release of 2019 HDI and GRDP figures in Magelang Regency

Monday, March 2, 2020, the Head of Magelang Regency BPS conducted a Press Realease of the Human Development Index (HDI) and Gross Regional Domestic Product (PDRB) 2019. It was delivered in front of several Departments / Agencies invited to this event. Magelang Regency economy in 2019 grew 5.30 percent. Growth is supported by all business fields without exception. The highest growth occurred in the Information and Communication business by 11.38 percent. The rapid development and need of information technology is strongly suspected to have contributed to the high growth of this sector. Other business fields that are also growing fast are 9.97 percent of Company Services and 9.25 percent of Other Services. Meanwhile, with the economic growth rate of 5.30 percent, the highest source of growth came from the Manufacturing Industry (1.29 percent). The next second share of growth is Wholesale and Retail Trade; Car and Motorcycle Repair (0.84 percent), Information and Communication (0.59 percent), followed by Business and Construction (0.47 percent).Human development in Magelang Regency in 2019 is progressing, which is marked by the continued increase in the Human Development Index (HDI). In 2019, the HDI of Magelang Regency has reached 69.87. This figure increased by 0.76 points or grew by 1.10 percent compared to the previous year. The quality of health, education, and the fulfillment of people's needs during the period 2018 to 2019 has increased. Newborns in 2019 have the opportunity to live up to 73.56 years, 0.09 years longer than those born in the previous year. Children who in 2019 were 7 years old had the opportunity to attend school up to 12.53 years (graduated from high school or D1), an increase of 0.05 years. Meanwhile, the population aged 25 years and over has on average been educated for 7.77 years (junior class 1 or grade 2), or an increase of 0.20 years compared to before. In 2019, the adjusted expenditure per capita (constant 2012 prices) for the people has reached 9.39 million rupiah in 2019, an increase of 362 thousand rupiah compared to the previous year.
