In June 2020, Jawa Tengah was inflation of 0.20 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 104.74. Of the 6 CPI cities in Jawa Tengah, all cities experienced inflation. The city of CPI that experienced the highest inflation was Tegal City, which was 0.42 percent with CPI of 105.16; followed by Purwokerto City by 0.40 percent with CPI of 104.42; Surakarta City by 0.29 percent with CPI 103.82; Cilacap City by 0.28 percent with CPI of 103.67; Semarang City by 0.16 percent with CPI of 105.13; and the lowest inflation occurred in Kudus City by 0.09 percent with CPI of 103.92.
Inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in most of the expenditure group index, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 0.59 percent followed by the household appliances, equipment and routine maintenance group by 0.26 percent; health group of 0.23 percent; the food and beverage / restaurant supply group by 0.22 percent; transportation group by 0.13 percent; clothing and footwear group by 0.12 percent; recreation, sports and culture group by 0.11 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels group of 0.04 percent; education group by 0.01 percent. While the index decline occurred in the personal care and other services group by 0.24 percent and the information, communication and financial services group by 0.01 percent.
The main cause of inflation in Central Java in June 2020 was the increase in the price of broiler chicken eggs, broiler eggs, inter-city transportation, catfish and detergent powder / liquid soap. The main anchors to inflation are falling prices for garlic, sugar, air freight, jewelery gold and red chili.
